Ingredients:
- 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk (NOT Evaporated)
- 1/8th tsp. finely ground sea salt
- 2 tbsp. Peppers of Key West Goin’ Bananas Sauce
- 1 tbsp. salted butter
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 pint of your favorite brand of vanilla ice cream
- 2 fresh bananas – sliced lengthwise – as garnish (optional)
- 1/2 cup crumbled-up frosted flakes as garnish (optional)
Directions:
- Pour sweetened condensed milk into glass pie plate and stir in sea salt.
- Set the pie plate within a roasting pan and add hot water to halfway up the side of the pie plate.
- Cover the pie plate snugly with aluminum foil and bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. (Check a few times during baking and add more water to the roasting pan as necessary).
- When caramelized, remove from the oven and add Peppers of Key West is Goin’ Bananas, vanilla, cinnamon, and butter.
- Whisk vigorously until smooth and then let cool.
- Serve with ice cream and garnishes.
Variation – Instead of the traditional Goin Bananas, Use Peppers of Key West with Rum.
Promptly refrigerate any unused portion for up to one week.
