Founder Blair Lazar uses only fresh peppers- no pepper extracts- to achieve a crisp, clean taste. And it’s not called Death Hot Sauce for nothing. With a heat rating of 6 out of 10 on the Peppers of Key West Heat Level Rating Scale, Pure Death Hot Sauce with Jolokia is much hotter than Blair’s Original Death Sauce but not as piercing as the After Death sauce.
Blair has created a “death empire” of sorts, having introduced over seventy hot sauces and related products to the market since 1989. His hot sauce adventure began when he was a bartender in New Jersey. Trying to deter his patrons from staying past closing time, he developed a hot sauce and allowed them to stay only if they could eat four sauce-coated wings. Rather than getting rid of the stragglers, the sauce actually became a menu item, and Blair’s Original Death Sauce was born.
