Caribbean Reef Sea Salt is exactly what it says- sea salt from the Caribbean. Caribbean sea salt has been around for a long time. A really long time, like as in forever. It has been used by local island cultures since it was discovered that small pools on the shores would concentrate the salt content of the water by way of evaporating the H2O- natures way of reducing a sauce, I suppose. When these pools are agitated, the sea salt crystallizes and is harvested. In 2007, a gentleman named Robert List decided it was time the world had access to this natural source of sea salt and formed the Caribbean Reef Sea Salt and Spice Company. Since then, they've expanded their product line to several other spices and blends.
Sea salt can be used to replace your typical table salt and is also preferred for cooking. I don't have any science to back this up, but it seems as though the salt more easily dissolves in fluids while I'm cooking than the traditional table salt. It also has a crisper taste, probably a function of being minimally processed. You can use Caribbean Reef Sea Salt as a rub for your grilling, smoking, and poaching adventures. Every time you take a pinch out of the can, or a handful for that matter, you'll have flashes or palm trees and salt rimmed margarita's- well, maybe not, but I do. Then again, Peppers of Key West is in Key West and I see those things everyday.
